Spotlight SRQ: Telling Sarasota's Stories

Written by Christopher Sparacino | Jan 17, 2026 12:59:59 AM

Sarasota is full of great local stories — and too many of them don’t get the attention they deserve.

That’s why I’m relaunching Spotlight SRQ, a local feature series focused on telling Sarasota's stories through video and written profiles. Stories about people, places, small businesses, creatives, community spaces, and everyday moments that make this area what it is.

It’s about documenting real life in Sarasota — honestly, thoughtfully, and with care.

What Is Spotlight SRQ?

Spotlight SRQ is a curated storytelling series on YourLocalVideographer.com and YouTube, where I feature Sarasota-area stories through:

  • Short, professionally filmed videos

  • Written profiles designed to add context and depth

  • A permanent feature on this site

  • Occasional promotion across my platforms

Each spotlight is designed to help viewers understand:

  • who someone is

  • what they’re building, creating, or contributing

  • and why their story matters

Simple. Human. Real.

Why I’m Doing This

I’m a Sarasota-based videographer, and over time I’ve realized something important:

The most compelling stories here aren’t always the loudest or the most polished — they’re the most genuine.

Video helps capture that. Writing helps explain it.
Together, they create something people can actually connect with.

Spotlight SRQ is my way of slowing things down a bit — of creating a growing archive of Sarasota stories that people can watch, read, share, and come back to over time.

It’s part creative project, part documentation, and part love letter.

Who I’m Looking to Feature

As part of the relaunch, I’m opening up a limited number of spots for stories that feel like a good fit.

This could include:

  • local business owners

  • artists and creatives

  • community organizers

  • long-time locals

  • interesting people doing meaningful or unusual things

  • places with a story to tell

I’m especially interested in people who:

  • are based in Sarasota or the surrounding area

  • value authenticity over polish

  • are open to being documented as they are

This is a collaborative project, not a transaction.

Sell me a little bit about your story or idea.

I’ll share more details, answer questions, and see if it feels like a good fit on both sides.

The first new Spotlight SRQ stories will start rolling out soon.

Thanks for being part of Sarasota.
